LeMans Karting League Rulebook
1. Contact Rules
-
No Bumping in Turns – Any contact that alters another driver’s line in a corner will result in a black flag penalty.
-
No Dive Bombing – Aggressive late braking that causes contact or forces another driver off their line is prohibited.
-
Bumping on Straights – Light contact is permitted only on straightaways, provided it is not excessive or dangerous.
2. Black Flag Penalties
-
Definition – Black flags are issued for:
-
Forcing a kart off their line for position.
-
Excessive or unsafe contact.
-
Ignoring yellow flag rules.
-
Un-safe pit practice
-
-
Penalty – Each black flag = 20-second penalty served in the penalty box.
-
Serving a Penalty – Follow the same entry rules as a pit stop (see Section 4). Marshal will time your penalty and release you.
-
Avoiding a Penalty – If you cause an incident unintentionally, you may give the position back immediately to avoid a black flag.
3. Pit Stop Rules
-
Mandatory Pit Stops – Each driver must complete 3 Iron Man pit stops during the race.
-
Pit Window – Pit stops open 5 minutes after race start.
-
Pit Open Signal – Marshals will create an "X" with their flags to indicate pit lane is open.
-
Pit Closing – All pit stops must be completed before the white flag is shown.
4. Pit Stop Procedure
-
TWO Taps on the top of your helmet to indicate a pit stop to drivers around
-
Enter the pit lane at a safe speed.
-
Come to a complete stop at the red flags before the penalty box.
-
Once stopped, proceed into the penalty box.
-
In the box:
-
Unbuckle completely.
-
Exit the kart with nothing touching it.
-
Re-enter the kart.
-
Buckle fully before leaving.
-
-
Exit safely and rejoin the race.
5. Flags
-
Yellow Flag / Yellow Lights – Reduce speed to walking pace.
-
Field will be lined up behind the leader using LIVE TIME position tracking, not race position.
-
-
Black Flag – Report to penalty box immediately.
-
White Flag – Final lap; pit lane closed.
-
Blue Flag – Not used in league races.
-
Green Flag/Lights Race!
-
Red Flag/Lights Safely stop your kart to a complete stop.
6. Caution Procedures
-
Under caution, all karts slow to walking pace.
-
Marshals will arrange the field behind the leader.
-
Positions will be determined from LIVE TIME scoring, not on-track order.
7. General Conduct
-
Respect other drivers and marshals at all times.
-
Unsafe or reckless driving may result in disqualification.
-
The Race Director’s decision is final.
-
Don’t agree with a decision made? Discuss with the race director AFTER the race, trying to communicate with a marshall during the race will only lose you more time/positions on track.
8. Format Winter/Spring 2026
-10 Rounds 20 Races
Drivers may race on either days, or both for the Winter/Spring Schedule. Sunday February 15th starts ROUND 1 for the season, working its way up to ROUND 10 every Sunday morning at 10am. February 17th, starts ROUND 10, and works its way down to ROUND 1. You may compete either day, to get the MOST points available for the championship, you must race each round at least ONE time.
If a racer misses Round 1 Sunday February 15th, they can make up that round Tuesday April 21st (last week/Tuesday ROUND 1). Your HIGHEST point round (if you race the same round twice) will be taken for your championship total.
