It was hot last night, but an intense and clean race on the Mega Track. A lot of new faces showed up, some graduating from Thursday night and some from other areas. Even so, just 0.6 seconds separated the 8 teams in qualifying, with the top 5 just over a tenth of a second apart – talk about close! It was Gabor on pole, followed by That Dad, Team Dnj, Sushanth, and Team Saratov rounding out the top 5.
But after the first few laps, it was clear that qualifying positions meant little. There were lots of on-track passes, and a good number of teams chose to pit in the first 10 laps. John Waldrop #5 assumed the lead until their pit stop a few laps later. The lead then bounced between Team Saratov and Team Dnj until lap 36 where Team Saratov took over for good. In the end, Team Dnj finished a close second, followed by John Waldrop #5, Gabor, and a great drive from That Dad to finish 5th after dropping to the bottom of the order with some bad luck.
