…..And not a single caution. Everyone’s worried about the pace kart….and then they drive clean and it never has to come on track!! See…what’s the big deal?!? 7 teams;175 laps; 60min, not bad. And the marshals brought their ‘A’ game last night, too. Forget your seat belt, black flag. Bump pass, black flag.
So some after race ‘discussion’ left me unsure who the winner actually was. My paperwork has Papal Thunder on the top, followed by Vladimir Putin and then the One Down team. Or the in the Ironman format puts Davin on top and Sushanth 2nd and then Papal Thunder in 3rd. The Ironmans hadn’t specifically been called out on the pit stop times in the drivers meetings. So they do them 1, 2, 3, and then settle in for the rest of the race while the teams still had to keep the 60/40 rule. In a nutshell, a driver’s on-track time can’t be any greater then 60% of the 1hr race, basically just to keep time more equal. But the ironmans didn’t have to follow the rules that the rest did.
Again the LMK rules are not to keep someone from winning but to try and have a more level field so it can be anyone’s race. In the end everyone played nice and it was resolved!
