If you are between the ages of 8 and 11, this is your opportunity to enjoy some fun, safe, racing education at LeMans Karting. Our program, designed for pre-teens 48″ and taller, runs Monday through Friday 3PM – 4PM, and allows for the ultimate indoor go-karting educational experience for unlicensed drivers.
The Training Program is mandatory before a Cadet can attend open race sessions.
1. Cadet Training Course – $20 – Approx. 20 minutes
2. Open Practice Session – $20 – Approx. 10 minutes
3. Cadet Training Program Package Deal – $50 – Approx 40 minutes.
At LeMans Karting, safety is always first. Cadet karts can easily get up to 25 mph, so it is important to be aware of surroundings and the marshals’ instructions. This means that we will ensure you have the proper safety gear, and a completeunderstanding of track, including flags and racing etiquette. In addition, the Cadet will learn about the racing line, which is known to be the safest and fastest location to race.
Once the classroom lesson is complete, the Cadets will move to the track, where they will learn how to operate throttle and brake pedals smoothly in an alternate fashion before proceeding to their first real driving session. The Safety Briefing is required only once per visit, so if it has been completed during the Training session, it will not be required in the Open Practices scheduled on the same day.
With the Cadet still sitting in the kart, her or she will learn the importance of seating position, hand position, and eye position. Furthermore, Cadets will apply the braking and throttle lesson and combine it with steering placement. The Cadet will then be ready to set the vehicle in motion.
The warm up consists of a “lead-follow” format. Cadets will slowly follow the Instructor around the track while staying on the proper racing line and gas-break points. This is done at a walking pace to get Cadets familiar with the track and the kart.
With all the Cadets in a single file line, they will contine the drills at full speed with the Instructor leading the session. This includes learning how to brake at high speeds, and enter and exit the pit lane.
The Cadets will be allowed to race in Open Practice sessions, and will complete the program with the knowledge and training to race safely with their new friends!
Once the race has been completed, the Instructor will asses each Cadet’s driving, and provide tips to help them improve.
